SkinnyMan recently had the pleasure of sound designing and mixing a series of spots promoting Discovery Channel’s groundbreaking new series “North America”.
For many of us, North America is our home. We live in this extraordinary continent each and every day, but have we ever truly experienced first-hand the wide scope of incredible dangers challenging our diverse and tenacious continent?
If you think you know North America, you can think again. In this unforgettable television event, Discovery Channel turns the lens toward its homeland and captures a land where life collides with hostile, untamed wilderness in the most diverse, deadly environment on Earth.
The breathtaking, seven-part series North America begins its journey Sunday, May 19 at 9/8c and runs through Sunday, June 16. The spots were produced by Mark Valentine at Anatomy Media.
02.13.13 SkinnyMan and Three One merge!
We would LOVE to take this Valentine’s Day to announce that SkinnyMan and Three One are newly conjoined!
This means that two of NYC’s premiere post-production studios have merged to offer you a “one stop boutique shop” for all your video, audio and graphic needs.
As of March 1st, 2013, both companies will now be residing on the 20th floor in Times Square’s historic Paramount Building!
Yes, there will be a party, and you will most certainly be invited…
05.17.12 “Trashed” Movie Trailer starring Jeremy Irons
Trashed – No Place For Waste looks at the risks to the food chain and the environment through pollution of our air, land and sea by waste. The film reveals surprising truths about very immediate and potent dangers to our health. It is a global conversation from Iceland to Indonesia between the film star Jeremy Irons and scientists, politicians and ordinary individuals whose health and livelihoods have been fundamentally affected by waste pollution. Visually and emotionally the film is both horrificJeand beautiful: an interplay of human interest and political wake-up call. But it ends on a message of hope: showing how the risks to our survival can easily be averted through sustainable approaches that provide far more employment than the current ‘waste industry.’
Jeremy Irons will be at the Cannes Film Festival to promote this film and it will most likely be screened on May 22nd.

Oxygen Network has acquired syndication rights to the hit-series Glee; plus airing a 2011 reality show to find the next Glee star. SkinnyMan just finished mixing the Anatomy Media produced tape that is being used to promote the buzz. As a matter of fact, It’s so buzz-worthy that we’re not even allowed to show you the tape. Sorry.
So until they start airing, here’s a Glee logo to tide you over.
09.05.10 The Fabulous Good Time Party Boys
SkinnyMan’s very own Roy Harter has returned from playing keyboards and theremin with UK musical collective, “The Fabulous Good Time Party Boys”. Under the musical leadership of Phil Johnstone (Robert Plant), the now legendary Fabbies have become the must-see-act on the UK festival scene. This year’s stage theme was “horror”, and the madcap band certainly delivered. This years tour included a performance at Beautiful Days, were they were joined onstage by Mark Chadwick and Jon Sevink, from the headlining band The Levellers, for a rendition of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”.

SkinnyMan would like to welcome a new client to our studios. HarperCollins Publishers were in to record the entire Deepak Chopra audio book chapter of his new book/film ‘The Shadow Effect”.

TV Land was in producing an integrated marketing spot for one of their sponsors, Denny’s. The spot features a broadway-styled musical theatre performance that takes place within an actual Denny’s restaurant.
SkinnyMan handled all the music composing, arranging, singing talent casting, recording, final mixing and sound design of the spot.
Production management was handled by Tiffany Mitchell. Kudos to TV Land’s Kevin Hartman. Not only did he produce and direct the commercial, but we also got him to play guitar on the track!

Dance to the time warp again….
SkinnyMan was chosen to mix and sweeten a series of spots to celebrate the cult classic. FUSE is airing the film as part of their “Full Volume Flicks” series. The entire package was produced by our talented friends Mark Valentine, and Mark Moffet at Anatomy Media.
All of us at SkinnyMan are just relieved, because now that the project is done, Roy has promised to stop cross-dressing during his audio mix sessions. Don’t let his new beard fool you. He’s a freak.

2009 Promax/BDA – BEST SOUND DESIGN!!!
SkinnyMan had a great year at the 2009 Promax/BDA conference. This international festival is the world’s largest entertainment marketing, promotion and design event. It’s kind of a big deal in the world of television.
First off, we had one of the MSG Network spots we mixed, being used as an example of great sound design during Promax/BDA’s “Best of Cable” presentation. This spot also earned us a Silver Award in the “Best Sound Design” Category.
As if this wasn’t a big enough honor, we were also asked to sound design and mix Robert Redford’s four-minute video introduction. He was being honored with a lifetime achievement award.
Our awards this year included:
Best Sound Design – MSG Network “Heart of New York”
Best Sports Open – New York Rangers “Open”
We would like to thank the incredibly hardworking and talented crew at Anatomy Media for giving us the opportunity to mix these projects, and making this all possible. And of course, all the little people…
06.10.09 Nickelodeon’s iCarly “Butt Dance”
In this third and final installment in our trilogy of recently mixed spots featuring “hiney humour”, we present this iCarly Nickelodeon episodic. We promise no more spots mentioning buttocks from here on in.

We’ve been noticing a trend in “derriere humour” here at SkinnyMan. Nickelodeon stopped in to mix some episodic spots for the animated series, “The Penguins of Madagascar”.
Produced, of course, by Liz Williams and Brian Lucy.
Warning these spots may contain hints of Penguin ass-play.

Joe Minchik was in from TV Land, producing a hilarious Sneak Peak for “Land of the Lost”, staring Will Ferrell and Danny McBride.
We were pleasantly surprised that he didn’t ask us to bleep out the line, in which Ferrell clearly proclaims, “My ass is killing me.”

iCarly’s “Webbiest Wednesday” campaign just underwent a fresh redesign. We put together a bunch of new music and sound effects for the package. Produced by Liz Williams and Brian Lucy.
05.19.09 Outback Steakhouse
Liz Williams has been busy at SkinnyMan producing some Nick at Nite sponsored menus for Outback Steakhouse. While sound designing these spots, we realized three things:
1. Roy needs to practice his Didgeridoo more often.
2. Roy has in-fact declared himself a virtuoso of the Rainstick.
3. While a boomerang will NEVER find it’s way back to the office window it is thrown from; the NYPD will ALWAYS manage to figure it out!
The success of our Wall Street Journal spots, led us to the opportunity to do some sound design and mixing on the new MarketWatch.com campaign. Peter Drace was at the helm on these spots.

Nick at Nite has been at SkinnyMan, mixing a series of fun integrated marketing spots. This one features “Pledge Multi-Surface” as their client. We have been having a lot of fun lately, by being able to showcase our sonic versatility. Produced by the newly engaged Robin Lasher. Congratulations Robin!

It’s been getting more air-time than Britney’s new single, to promote Nickelodeon’s Dora Live touring show.
This memorable tune was produced by Dave Deluca and features Frank Simms on vocals.
